Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

What is biodynamic craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral therapy (CST), with its roots in osteopathy, is a gentle non-invasive therapy that assesses and responds to the unique needs of each individual. It is a holistic approach to health and well-being.

The craniosacral therapist listens to the movements of the fluids and tissues of the body and works to release and realign the entire system.

Craniosacral refers to the system that includes the cranium - the bones that protect the brain - the spine and the sacrum - the triangular bone in the centre of the pelvis.

Biodynamic is a holistic approach to CST that encompasses the whole person and their physical, mental and emotional healing. It works with the underlying forces that order and maintain the health of the whole system.

What to expect

The first stage is to take a medical history and discuss current concerns and resources.

The client lies down fully clothed on a treatment couch and the craniosacral therapist makes gentle contact with their hands.

The therapist will typically start by making contact at the feet, and then usually at either the head or the sacrum.

A session lasts one hour with a hands-on treatment of around 30 to 40 minutes.

There is usually a deep sense of relaxation and often a renewed sense of vitality and well-being.

Who can benefit?

Craniosacral therapy can benefit everyone, even those who consider themselves to be healthy.

Treatment can be used in a preventative way to maintain optimum health.

It can also help those with acute conditions, as well as long-term or recurring injuries, illnesses and complaints.

About me

I studied with Franklyn Sills at Karuna Institute and qualified as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist in 2010.

I came to CST after many years of the study and practice of yoga and meditation, both in the west and over several years living in India. Currently I'm studying qi gong and internal martial arts.
